Football Victoria (FV) recognises the need for a comprehensive Regional Football Review to ensure our game is played, administered, and developed in the most effective and efficient manner possible across the state.
To address the growing demands of football across Victoria, it is vital to assess how FV and our regional stakeholders can better align and collaborate to achieve common outcomes and goals, including our aim to achieve gender equity by 2027.
To conduct this review, FV has engaged Solucio, an independent organisation which will analyse previous reports, the current operating model, stakeholder feedback, best practice governance models in sports, and the overall regional football experience.
FV's goal is to ensure a sustainable regional football model is implemented by the 2025 season, with phased introduction of recommendations beginning in 2024.
The key areas under review include:
- Governance
- Administration & Operations
- Participation & Engagement
- Equity, Diversity, & Inclusion
- Facilities & Infrastructure
- Competitions & Grievance, Discipline & Tribunal (GDT), and
- Pathways for Players, Coaches, and Referees.
By thoroughly examining these areas, FV will seek to improve the function, capacity, and the overall regional football experience and ecosystem.
During this process, members of the relevant football communities will be engaged for direct surveys, one-on-one interviews, group workshops, and consultation with industry experts.
The Regional Football Review has been launched as a part of FV's dedication to strengthening the football community across the state.
