TALENT DEVELOPMENT SCHEME (TDS)

FIFA and Football Australia have developed a Talent Development Scheme for identifying talented players from various parts of our country.

This is done through existing Football Australia and Member Federation talent ID programs, trials and competitions, with Football Victoria hosting several sessions since the program's inception.

TDS matches are delivered in partnership with Football Australia, where scouted and identified players are invited to play an 11 v 11 match. Players will be given the opportunity to play and/or train in front of National Team Coaches, with detailed technical, bio-maturation and physical profiles developed. This will help inform National Team Coaches on team selections and to allow the Football Australia Technical Department to monitor and track player pathways and development over a long-term period.

“The development of talent to bridge the gap and increase global competitiveness remains one of FIFA’s major ambitions. Every talent should get a chance and each Member Association should have at least one academy or centre of excellence by 2026 to enable them to work with the ‘best with the best’ principle”.

- Arsene Wenger - FIFA Chief of Global Football Development
