COACHER PROGRAM FOR WOMEN & GIRLS

CoacHER

Football Victoria is committed to increasing the number of female coaches across all levels of the game.

Currently, women and girls remain underrepresented in coaching, with female coaches lacking visibility across community football, NPL clubs, and the professional game. At present, only 15% of coaches in Victoria are female.

We recognise there are a number of barriers that can prevent women from starting or progressing in their coaching journey, including financial constraints, course accessibility, confidence, and balancing work, study, family, and football commitments.

At the same time, we know that greater visibility of female coaches creates greater opportunity. When women are empowered to lead in coaching environments, they inspire more girls and women to participate in football,  not only as players, but as future coaches, mentors, and leaders within the game.

Importantly, CoacHER is not only focused on increasing the number of women entering coaching, but also on supporting and retaining female coaches within the game long term. By creating supportive environments, development opportunities, and strong coaching networks, we aim to ensure women feel valued, connected, and confident to continue their coaching journey at every level of football.
