Who can join the FAP?

We welcome anyone involved in football to apply to become a FAP member outside of Club Presidents and CEOs or General Managers of Football Clubs.

Our stakeholders know football better than anyone.  They know what makes it great and what could make it better.  The FAP is an opportunity to help shape and improve football policies, strategies and plans.

We encourage all applicants, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, people with disability, LGBTIQA+ and culturally diverse communities to nominate for this panel.

We encourage women to join as we have a commitment to 40:40:20

Members must have a valid Working with Children’s Check.

Nominations must be supported by an FV Director or one of our Voting Member Clubs.  The Member Services Team (members@footballvictoria.com.au) can assist you with this.

Why do you exclude Presidents, CEOs and General Managers?

The Football Advisory Panel forms part of our FV Stakeholder Engagement Framework and Strategy.  It is a way to connect with our community.  Our operational departments already engage regularly with Presidents, CEOs and General Managers via other avenues.

How many members are in the FAP?

The FAP has between 30-50 FAP members at any given time to ensure there is a good cross-section of the football community to advise the FDC with a diverse voice.

How often does the FAP meet?

The full FAP (all members) meets twice a year for full day forum at The Home of Matildas (next one is scheduled for Sunday, 8 February 2026).

Outside of that selected FAP Members depending on their expertise or interest areas (e.g. junior football, coaching etc) are invited to participate in focus groups, surveys and interviews when advice is required by the FDC on a particular matter.

How long will my membership to the FAP last?

We’re currently looking for more members to get involved in the FAP until December 2027, however you will have an annual opportunity to 'opt out' if the Panel is no longer right for you and you can resign from the FAP at any time.
