PlayFootball v2.0 to launch for 2025 season

Football Victoria (FV) is thrilled to announce that an enhanced PlayFootball v2.0 will launch for the 2025 season.

PlayFootball v2.0, the updated version of Football Australia’s (FA) national club, player and referee registration platform, will offer a number of improvements for users, including;

  • A fully redesigned user experience and interface making the platform more accessible, efficient and user-friendly for all stakeholders

  • Flexible fee payment options

  • New print and digital friendly player and non-player ID Cards

  • A fully revamped reporting module

  • Integrated Working with Children’s Check workflow

To ensure a seamless transition, FV will be providing in-person and virtual training sessions on the new PlayFootball v2.0 system, to both Clubs and Associations.

These sessions aim to equip administrators with the necessary skills to navigate and utilise the enhanced features effectively.

The new registration platform will require both FA and FV Governing Body Regulation Fees be paid at the point of registering via PlayFootball v2.0.

A participant’s registration can only be made active, permitting the participant to play, once the Governing Body fees have been paid.

To assist with this change, FV will offer four payment models:

  • All Fees Upfront: Club and Regulation fees paid online at the point of registration

  • Regulation Fees Upfront: FA and FV fees paid online at the point of registration

  • Scheduled Payment: FA, FV, Association and the first portion (¼) of the Club fee is paid online at the point of registration

  • Subsidised Payment: Club subsidises payment and pays for Governing Body fees on participants behalf at the point of registration

To ensure the new platform met the expectations of users, four Associations, 34 Clubs and 4,839 players were invited to attend feedback sessions with FV and FA and beta test the new platform.

Glen Eira FC General Manager Stuart Howell, who attended one of the feedback sessions, is looking forward to increased efficiency from the new platform.

“With over 80 teams, our club needs an efficient and effective system to ensure that players are properly registered and eligible to play.

“Having had the ability to provide ideas and feedback early in the design phase of the project has resulted in an end- product which solves problems we encounter every day...

“We are eagerly anticipating the arrival of the new system which will bring benefits to Club admins and members alike.”

FV Chief Executive Officer Chris Pehlivanis also welcomed the launch of the new system and what it means for Clubs and participants.

“We are looking forward to participants having a streamlined registration process, while simplifying administration for our Clubs from 2025.

“FV will work closely with Clubs to ensure they are well supported through the transition and familiar with the benefits of the new system.”

Clubs are encouraged to explore the Football Australia “What’s Changing Playbook” for further information on all the changes coming to PlayFootball v2.0.
