As another thrilling football season has drawn to a close, we want to take a moment to thank the entire Football Victoria (FV) community for your dedication in 2025 - and share some exciting developments ahead of 2026.
Whether you were on the field as a player or referee, or on the side as a coach, volunteer or supporter, your energy gives life to the beautiful game across Victoria.
Now, as you take a well-earned break, we’re hard at work behind the scenes to make 2026 something special. In preparation, we’re pleased to share some key changes related to our Competitions team structure below.
A unified Competitions department
We’re combining our Advanced and Community Competitions teams into a single, integrated unit: FV Competitions.
Under this new structure, FV Competitions will be organised into three key functions:
- Senior Competitions
- Junior Competitions
- Regional Competitions
This change lets us share resources more efficiently and offer a smoother, more consistent experience for clubs across Victoria. No more figuring out which department to contact – there will be one central point of contact and source of information.
Centralised communication for Competitions
To make things easier, all competition-related enquiries will now go through one email address and one phone line:
- competitions@footballvictoria.com.au
- (03) 9474 1800 (press 2 when prompted)
This means more FV staff will be ready to respond to you; there will be more eyes on your emails; and quicker answers when you need our help.
Key responsibilities
The new team will continue to be responsible for:
- Enforcing the Rules of Competition and related regulations
- Generating league structures and fixtures
- Handling general enquiries, fixture requests, match investigations, and dispensation submissions
- Delivering training on FV systems
- Reviewing and refining competitions and processes each season
For other FV enquiries, you can find the best contact on our website.
Following the findings of the regional review and with our strategy front of mind, these changes promote clarity, ease and accessibility to the competitions team for our community and stakeholders.
These changes are already in motion, and our team is hard at work planning for a strong 2026 season ahead.
FV Head of Competitions, Frank Karatzas, is optimistic about the advantages of the new structure.
“Merging the Advanced and Community Competitions teams to create one cohesive unit is a big win for our clubs ahead of the 2026 season.
“This change means that the Competitions department is more accessible and the right person with the right information is never far away.
“We’re pleased to lay the foundations now for another strong year of football in 2026.”
