Launched in 2014, Female Football Week is an annual initiative to elevate women and girls and their contribution to football. As part of the celebrations, we are pleased to announce the winners of the 2024 National Female Football Week Awards!

2024 FEMALE FOOTBALL WEEK WINNERS

  • FFW Player of the Year: Remi Simunic
 
Remi is an up-and-coming goalkeeper who has put every foot forward in her return to the pitch following a broken fibula and torn ACL in 2023. Eight months post-surgery, she still attends all training sessions with her team at Southern United and is the loudest supporter on the bench.
 
  • FFW Coach of the Year: Madeline Breakspear
 
Maddi is a positive, inspiring, and passionate leader of female football.
Following gaining her C Licence, she dedicated the time to bestow her vast knowledge onto her players, aged 14-53, giving them every opportunity to develop.
 
  • FFW Referee of the Year: Catherine Hofmann

Catherine was part of the W League in its early years before having a break from football and has since been a consistent top performer in the Latrobe Valley Soccer League region.

 
  • FFW Volunteer of the Year: Odilia Wijburg

Odilia has been President of Glen Eira FC for over three years and makes each player, parent, and volunteer feel valued and heard.

  • FFW Community Champion of the Year: Megan Drysdale
 
Megan is the current Middle Park FC President and has been a driving force for inclusivity and empowerment.
Under Megan's guidance, Middle Park's female participation has risen from seven members in 2020 to 104 in 2024.
