2024 Football For All Gala Day Wrap

On August 31, Football Victoria proudly hosted the sixth annual Football for All Gala Day at the Home of the Matildas in Bundoora, drawing in over 500 participants and spectators, including parents, guardians, families, support workers, and friends.

This year’s event marked the largest iteration yet, solidifying its status as the biggest All Abilities football event in the state.

The Gala Day is more than just a sporting event; it provides individuals with disabilities the opportunity to experience football in a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment.

FV's Diversity and Inclusion Coordinator, Selin Arpaci, expressed her pride in overseeing such a meaningful day.

“For the first time, the Gala Day was widely promoted to all abilities teams across Victoria, and it was our largest gala day yet,” she said. “With our new, transformative model for all abilities football in Victoria, we aim to make the Football for All Gala Day a highlight of the football calendar for Victorian football clubs, unifying all abilities football programs across the state.”

The event embodied its core principles of unity, community, and inclusivity. It served as a platform where everyone, regardless of ability, could enjoy football while strengthening community bonds among participants, families, supporters, and partner organisations.

Proceeds from the event’s raffle will benefit Victoria’s Para Football State Team and the Athletes With Disability (AWD) Futsal team, further empowering athletes with disabilities to compete at the highest level.

The day featured thrilling football matches among all abilities teams, a clinic led by Melbourne Victory FC, and an exhibition match showcasing our elite Victorian pathways for players with disabilities. Attendees also enjoyed various activities, including inflatables, face painting, a quiet room for sensory play, and special appearances by players from Western United FC. Sponsor and partner stalls added to the vibrant atmosphere, ensuring a fun-filled day for everyone.
