69 teams and over 1,200 players from across regional Victoria descended on Albury-Wodonga over the weekend for 2025's iteration of the Country Championship.
Kicking off on Saturday and running through until Monday afternoon, over 200 matches were played across two sites, Jelbart Park in Albury and Baranduda Fields in Wodonga, resulting in 11 new champions crowned.
Representative teams from the Albury Wodonga Football Association (AWFA), Football Federation Sunraysia (FFS), Ballarat District Soccer Assocation (BDSA), Bendigo Amateur Soccer League (BASL), Football South West (FSW), Gippsland Soccer League (GSL), Football Geelong (GRFC), La Trobe Valley Soccer League (LVSL) and the Shepparton Junior Soccer Association (SJSA) proudly represented their associations in testing conditions, as the area was hit with low temperatures and plenty of rain across the weekend.

Football Victoria Regional Development Manager Lauren Stevens was incredibly proud to manage an event with so much historical and cultural significance to regional Victoria.
“It was incredible to witness the passion and talent on display at this year’s FV Country Champions tournament and we’re proud to carry on the legacy of this historic event and are already looking ahead with excitement to what 2026 will bring."
"Our sincerest thank you to the Victorian State Government, Minister Steve Dimopolous, Albury City Council, Wodonga Council, and Murray United FC for their invaluable support in making this event such a success."
With over 40 years of history, each year the FV Country Championships travels to a different host region across Victoria, attracting regional footballers and their families, while generating significant tourism and economic activity. The 2025 Country Championship was the first proudly managed by Football Victoria.
Football Victoria would like to thank everyone who made the 2025 Country Championships the incredible event it was, from the Victorian State Government and local councils, our brilliant participants and their families and all the referees and staff who played a massive role across the weekend.
We cannot wait for the 2026 installment of the Country Campionships and look forward to sharing more details on the future of the Championships in the coming months.
