Football Victoria (FV) can today confirm the format for Junior Boys National Premier Leagues (JBNPL) for the 2025 season.
The 2024 JBNPL format, which includes a first phase of grading fixtures, followed by a regular season and is geographically distributed across North, South, East and West, will continue in 2025.
Following the announcement of an U19 NPL-VPL2 Men’s competition in 2025, the JBNPL age groups will shift from an U18 in 2024, to an U17 in 2025. U14, U15 and U16 age groups remain in place for the 2025 season.

Additionally, following today’s announcement, the 2025 season will see the introduction of the Football Victoria – Football Australia Academy into the U14-U16 age groups, filling a vacancy in the structures.
Further proposed changes to the format for the 2026 season continue to be reviewed by FV, in consultation with competing and additional aspirational clubs. The final outcome of the 2026 structure will be announced prior to the commencement of Round 1 in 2025.
The 2024-25 trial periods for clubs have also been set and are as follows;

Any clubs found trialling outside of these parameters may be liable to sanctioning under their Football Victoria affiliation and licence agreement, not limited to but including fines, loss of competition points and removal from the competition structures.
