The second day of play at the 2026 Football Victoria (FV) Country Championships has come to a close, setting the stage for a massive day of finals in Geelong tomorrow.
It was another beautiful day at Geelong's Myers Reserve and Stead Park, with all eight regions giving their all to put themselves in a position to play for silverware tomorrow.
One of the exciting opportunities that the Country Championships offers players from regional Victoria, is the chance to perform in-front of the FV talent identification team.
We spoke to FV Head of Youth Development Steve Mautone today, who has been in Geelong this weekend assessing the talent on display.
"The Country Championships has shown us that we have some wonderful talent in the regions... we're really excited with what we're seeing year-on-year.
"From these Championships, we'll sit down with the assessors and scouts, collate the players that have really impressed, bring them into a training camp, integrate them into our metro players for our state team trials which will then go and represent Victoria at the National Championships in the future."
The final group stage matches will be played tomorrow morning before an afternoon full of finals closes out the Championships - you can track all of the scores and fixtures on the Dribl app.
