In preparation for season 2027, Football Victoria (FV) is pleased to release the 2027 Provisional Declaration of League Structures for the Senol National Premier Leagues (NPL), Victorian Premier Leagues (VPL), Advanced Juniors' Competitions & VETO Sports State Leagues (SL).
The 2027 Provisional League Structures have been determined in conjunction with the Rules of Competition and the Order of Merit Process and has been released four months ahead of the season to ensure club compliance.
Football Victoria’s Head of Competitions Jimmy Whitehead is looking forward to building on the progress made across the Victorian football pyramid heading into the 2027 season.
“2026 has been another important year for Victorian football, with clubs across the pyramid continuing to embrace the opportunities available to them and the strength of our competitions continuing to grow.
“As we look ahead to 2027, our focus is on continuing to provide clear, meaningful pathways for clubs while ensuring our competitions remain accessible, competitive and sustainable.
“The work we’ve done with clubs and stakeholders over recent years has helped shape a stronger and more connected football pyramid, and we’re excited to continue building on that in 2027.”
Football Victoria’s senior women’s competition structure will undergo a significant change in 2027, with the existing eight State League competitions replaced by a two-stream model.
The NPLW, VPLW and State League Women 1-4 will remain unchanged with promotion and relegation retained, while a new Senior Women’s Community League will provide a competitive, geographically structured alternative for players and clubs looking for a more flexible competition without the pressure of promotion and relegation.
The 2026 season saw the successful implementation of the new advanced Junior Boys league structures, which will continue through into the 2027 season.
We look forward to launching a refreshed structure for the Advanced Junior Girls Competition for the 2027 season, which aims to promote an aligned club approach, stronger technical outcomes, and support with club resourcing and facility usage.
To ensure our NPL/VPL Clubs lead the way in governance, capability and financial sustainability, Clubs may be required to complete further requirements under FV Membership before eligibility is confirmed in the Final Declaration of Leagues. This is noted by asterisk across the League structures.
A club’s appearance in the ‘Provisional Declaration of Leagues’ is not a confirmation of inclusion in the ‘Final Declaration of Leagues'. No participation is guaranteed to any club in any league until the final declaration of leagues is issued by FV.
