Alamein FC has announced Liam Kafka-Sweeney as their new NPLW Head Coach for season 2024, taking over from Keanu Giummarra.
The coaching change comes after a successful 2023 campaign where the Club finished fifth on the table and was always in contention to play finals football.
Kafka-Sweeney previously held a position in Football Victoria's SAP and TIDC Programs and is currently completing his FA B Diploma.
“We have some real talent at the Club throughout our junior levels, he said.
"It has been great to see some of these players train amongst the U20s and Seniors, and the potential impact they will have on our Senior squad in the years to come," he said.
Alamein FC President, Kathy Stamatopoulos said the the board "very much" looks forward to continuing to work with Kafka-Sweeney and supporting his coaching journey.
“We congratulate Liam on his appointment and are very pleased he has stepped into the Senior Head Coach role in what will be our 10th Anniversary.
"He enjoys a great rapport with our players, has a strong work ethic, and a valued collaborative approach," Stamatopoulos said.
“We also wish to thank our outgoing Head Coach Keanu Giummarra for his contribution and our strong ’23 campaign, where we finished just outside the top four. We wish Keanu all the very best as he leaves to pursue an opportunity overseas."
