Players have noticed something different about this year’s medals — and it’s thanks to a new partnership.
Earlier this year, Football Victoria named Badges And Medals its official awards supplier for the next three years.
Before the partnership, finding medals that were both well-crafted and original had been a challenge, said Football Victoria program coordinator Natalie Pafralis.
“Having a look at the different designs that were provided really just showcased the range that Badges And Medals have, and their ability to produce anything that came to mind. I saw some things that were glow-in-the-dark. I saw some things that had fidget spinners in the middle of them,” Pafralis said.
With Badges And Medals on board, Football Victoria was able to push the boundaries of what their medals could look like.
Among the new designs was the Victoria Cup Of Nations (VCON) medal, which featured a small spinner.
Players noticed the change immediately.
“I don’t think I’ve ever given a medal out and someone’s come up to me and said, ‘Oh my gosh, this is amazing, this is awesome.’ … They usually grab their medal and go, but for the first time, we had feedback that was specifically about the medal that they were receiving,” Pafralis said.
