Football Victoria Supports Safe and Inclusive Sport Initiative

Football Victoria is proud to support the Victorian Government's new initiative aimed at helping clubs create safer, more respectful sporting environments where gender equality is actively promoted, and harmful stereotypes are challenged.

The Safe and Inclusive Sport: Preventing Gender-Based Violence Guide provides essential resources for clubs, leagues, and associations to take action on gender equity and prevent gender-based violence within community sport.

Minister for Community Sport, Ross Spence, highlighted the significant impact sport can have, saying, "Sport helps shape communities and individuals, and this new guide will make a positive difference on and off the field for our communities for generations to come."

Football Victoria believes that sport can be a powerful force for social change, driving inclusion and setting an example for gender equality and respect across all levels.

Developed by GenWest, this initiative is part of the broader Preventing Violence Through Sport program, backed by a $1.2 million investment from the Victorian Government. The Guide offers practical tools and strategies to help clubs foster gender equity and work towards preventing gender-based violence.

This campaign is a crucial step in levelling the playing field for women, girls, and gender-diverse players while promoting respectful relationships and safer sporting environments.
