Football Victoria (FV) is delighted to announce Keilor Park SC has won the $1000 prize for Female Football February, following its incredible contribution to women’s football throughout the month.
It was inspiring to see so many Clubs unite to celebrate, promote and host events focused on women’s and girls’ football throughout February.
Keilor Park SC went above and beyond during the initiative, dedicating a range of events and activations throughout the month.
Among the highlights, Keilor Park SC held a hugely successful Football Fiesta. This involved the launch of a GO Girls Program, an injury prevention and recovery education session, an exhibition game against Geelong Galaxy, a GO Soccer Mums program, a ‘Little Eagles’ discovery program aimed at introducing young girls to football, a female gala day, and a community engagement event at Essendon DFO.
Keilor Park SC Vice President Nicole Camilleri and Women & Girls Developer Helen Vassiliou were thrilled with the outcome, stating the buy in from people at the Club and the local community have helped to create new opportunities for women and girls in football.
"The prize money will go a long way in supporting our future Women and girls programs and events"
"We are very grateful for this recognition and we all look forward to working with you and the FFV in achieving 50:50 equity."
Adding to the success of the Female Football February themed events, Keilor Park SC has since benefited from a tangible participation growth among women and girls.
The Club has managed to fill out its girls program, now having eight full teams compared to four in 2021, gained further members for its GO Soccer Mums program, and introduced a host of new young boys and girls through its Little Eagles program.
On behalf of Football Victoria, congratulations to Keilor Park SC for investing so much into helping to growth of women's and girls' football in our state.
