Eltham Redbacks FC has been recognised as Football Victoria’s Club Changer Club of the Month, celebrating a club that is setting a benchmark for Disability, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) in community football.
In partnership with the Frank Montagnese Foundation, the Redbacks launched their All Abilities football program, opening the doors for children and teenagers with disability to experience football in a safe, welcoming and fully supported environment.
The club designed the program with genuine care and intention. Participants have access to a quiet room, visual aids and the support of an Occupational Therapist, ensuring every child can engage at their own pace. Senior players stepped up as volunteers, providing one on one support, encouragement and connection, reinforcing the club’s philosophy that football is for everyone.
This initiative marks a fantastic step toward building a football community where every player, regardless of ability, can belong, participate and thrive. Eltham Redbacks FC has demonstrated what meaningful inclusion looks like, with thoughtful design, strong partnerships and a culture that embraces every individual.
