Football Victoria awarded Silver Status in Pride in Sport Index

Football Victoria’s (FV) ongoing commitment to LGBTQ+ inclusion has been recognised with Silver Status in the Pride in Sport Index for 2025, acknowledging the organisation’s continued work in creating safe, welcoming and inclusive environments across the game.

The Australian Pride in Sport Awards recognise sporting clubs, codes, media outlets, community initiatives and role models for their leadership in creating safe, welcoming and inclusive environments.

FV Executive Manager Equity, Programs and Government Relations Karen Pearce said the recognition reflects the organisation’s ongoing commitment to inclusion across the game.

“Achieving Silver Status in the Pride in Sport Index is an important reflection of the work being done across Football Victoria to ensure LGBTQ+ people feel safe, welcomed and included in our game,” she said.

“We remain committed to embedding inclusive practices across all levels of football, and continuing to create environments where everyone can belong, participate and thrive.”

FV also acknowledges that LGBTQ+ inclusion is an ongoing journey, and there is still more work to do to ensure all participants feel safe and welcomed in football.

The organisation looks forward to continuing to work alongside the LGBTQ+ community to further embed inclusion across all levels of the game.
