Football Victoria (FV) would like to thank Azmeena Hussain OAM and Joanna Bladen, who have announced their departure from the FV Board of Directors while formally welcoming Nicholas Vamvakas.
Hussain was appointed as a Director in March, 2019. A passionate advocate for diversity and promoting change through football, Hussain also served as a Legacy 23 Ambassador for the FIFA Women’s World Cup Australia and New Zealand 2023TM.. After more than four years of outstanding service, Hussain has stepped down as she prepares to welcome her second child. FV congratulates Hussain and thanks her for her contribution to our game.
Joanna Bladen has also advised she will depart the Board after more than two years. Elected in May 2021, Bladen brought a community perspective that stemmed from her playing experience, in addition to highly valued commercial and business acumen. Bladen will step down from her role to return to the United Kingdom with her family. FV thanks her for her service and wishes her the best in her future endeavours.
Nicholas Vamvakas has been appointed to fill the vacancy of Ms Bladen.
Vamvakas has been involved in football for almost 50 years as a player, coach and spectator. His passion for our game is complemented by a successful 35-year career in financial services. Since June 2020, Vamvakas has served as the Chair of FV’s Finance Risk and Compliance Committee, where he has become a valuable contributor to FV and the Victorian football community.
On behalf of the Victorian football community, we congratulate him on his appointment and welcome him as a formal member of the FV Board of Directors.
