Football Victoria celebrates landmark year with 2025 AGM and Annual Report release

Football Victoria’s 2025 Annual General Meeting (AGM), held on Monday 25 May at The Home of the Matildas at La Trobe University, brought together key Victorian football stakeholders to celebrate another landmark year for our game.

Addressing Members and stakeholders, Football Victoria (FV) Chair Dr Angela Williams reflected on the extraordinary momentum of football across the state, highlighting the strength of the football community and the importance of remaining connected at every level of the game.

“We have laid foundations financially, in governance, with our stakeholders, and internally so that we can commit to both stability and sustainability whilst chasing change together”, Williams said.

“We will continue to place a strong emphasis on building foundations for long-term success - being transparent, clear, and consistent with our decision making and building on trust.”

FV CEO Dan Birrell followed, reflecting on the collective success of the football community, emphasising that the accomplishments of the past year are shared by everyone in the room - and well worth celebrating.

“When I look back on the past year, the word that stands out for me is progress.

“We’ve seen continued growth across our game and that growth is not just a statistic – it’s a signal.

“It tells us that football matters to more people than ever before and that our communities believe in what we are building together.”

Executive Manager of Business Services, Simon Avenell, provided Members with an overview of Football Victoria’s strong financial performance in 2025.

“Throughout 2025, football in Victoria continued its strong momentum, reflected in rising participation levels and a healthy financial position.

“Maintaining this strength allows FV to further support the broader football community, while continuing to advance the objectives set out in FV’s Our Football strategy.”

The evening also marked the official release of Football Victoria’s 2025 Financial Statements and 2025 Annual Report, showcasing a year of remarkable progress and momentum for football in Victoria.

Both the 2025 Financial Statements and 2025 Annual Report are now available online.
