Football Victoria held Talent Development Scheme event at The Home of the Matildas

On Wednesday, May 2, Football Victoria (FV) held an official event of Football Australia’s FIFA Talent Development Scheme (TDS).

Some of the best young players from Victoria had the opportunity to showcase their talents to Young Matildas Head Coach Leah Blayney and Young Socceroos Head Coach Trevor Morgan on the night.

FV Girls' Talent Development Manager, Annick Fokchak said the event was a great showcase of the talent in Victoria.

"I think both coaches that attended the TDS matches are able to see the talent that's happening in Victoria for both males and females," she said.

"I think successfully, we've identified some players that have gone into Junior Matildas camp and, Asian Cup. So hopefully we'll do the same for the Young Matildas."

Young Matildas Head Coach, Leah Blayney explained the event provided the national coaches with the opportunity to witness a high-level match for the 2005/06 age group.

"We're in Victoria tonight to run a TDS match where we get the opportunity to see a bunch of talented Victorian players from across the state come in and play an 11 v 11 scenario and show us the things they’ve been working on in their club environments," she explained.

The event included:

  • Session 1 - Workshop - Player Qualities for International Football (Leah Blayney)
  • Session 2 - Match One - Young Matildas 2005/2006 born W
  • Session 3 - Match Two - Young Socceroos 2005/2006/2007 born M
