Football Victoria ID Cup showcases Australia’s brightest young talent

Football Victoria is proud to have hosted the third annual ID Cup, a premier youth football tournament designed to spotlight the top Under-13 and Under-14 players from across the country.

Held over three action-packed days from October 1–3 at The Home of The Matildas, the ID Cup plays a vital role in identifying future representatives for Victoria’s State Teams - a key step on the pathway to selection for the 2026 Emerging Matildas & Socceroos Championships.

This year’s tournament welcomed elite squads from South Australia, Tasmania and the ACT, who competed alongside Victoria’s top talent across both boys’ and girls’ divisions.

With over 270 players taking part in 56 matches, the event delivered a showcase of quality football and invaluable development experiences, even as teams battled through mixed weather conditions.

Steve Mautone, Head of Youth Development at Football Victoria, praised the standard of football on display throughout the tournament.

“This year’s ID Cup was another showcase of the high-quality talent emerging across the football community," he said.

“With the regular season wrapped up, the tournament provides young athletes with valuable experience in a high-performance environment and prepares them for the pathway ahead.

“It’s invaluable for Football Victoria to have this talent ID opportunity, to ensure we stay across emerging talent across our state and the nation.”
