Football Victoria overjoyed to host the 2025 National Para Championships

Australia’s top para footballers are set to converge in Victoria from December 8–12 as Melbourne hosts the 21st edition of the National Para Football Championships.

The Home of The Matildas will provide the stage for this prestigious event, where players will compete not only for bragging rights but also to impress the coaching staff of the CommBank ParaMatildas and CommBank Pararoos.

Football Australia Interim Chief Executive Officer, Heather Garriock said “Football is a game for everyone” and the National Para Football Championships are a shining example of that.

“The legacy of this event extends beyond the pitch, inspiring the next generation and demonstrating the power of football to connect communities.”

“This tournament has been the launching pad for so many of our ParaMatildas and Pararoos. For young athletes, it’s not just about representing their State or Territory – it’s about putting themselves forward for national team selection and showing what they can do on the big stage.

“We are delighted to bring the Championships to The Home of the Matildas in Melbourne. Hosting the nation’s top para footballers at such a world-class venue not only provides the athletes with a first-class stage to perform but also highlights the inclusive nature of our game.”

Football Victoria CEO Dan Birrell is thrilled to welcome the best para footballers in the country to The Home of The Matildas in December.

“We’re incredibly proud and excited to be hosting this event which will celebrate the best all-abilities footballers in the country.

"This sport is for everyone, no matter their background, age, gender, skill level or ability. That is what makes it great and what drives the decision making and strategy of Football Victoria every day.

“We look forward to hosting the 2025 National Para Championships in December.”

Football NSW is aiming to secure their 17th consecutive tournament victory, while Northern NSW Football, Football Queensland, Football South Australia, Football Victoria, and Football West will be looking to break this unprecedented streak.

Both male and female athletes will showcase their talents in this mixed-gender competition, demonstrating the depth and diversity of Australia’s para football talent.

For over two decades, the National Para Football Championships have served as a key stage for talent identification within Australia’s para football pathway, launching the careers of many prominent CommBank Pararoos and CommBank ParaMatildas.
