Football Victoria (FV) is delighted to announce that Sue Collins has been appointed as the organisation’s new Head of Equity, a vital role in realising FV’s ambitious goal of 50:50 equity by 2027.
An experienced figure within community football, Collins joins FV after serving Brighton SC for almost six years – first as an Admin & Communications Manager before being appointed the Club’s General Manager in 2019.
Additionally, Collins supported Bayside United FC as a Secretary throughout 2020 and is currently the outgoing Chair of the FV Women’s Standing Committee and elected Zone Representative.
Her record leading one of Victoria’s largest community football Clubs, which also has a thriving female program, makes Collins a standout appointment for the role. Her history in football complements her career, which includes supporting the Australian Local Government Women’s Association.
The Head of Equity role will be responsible for driving the implementation of a more diverse football landscape in Victoria including developing strategies to recruit and retain women, girls and non-binary people as coaches, referees, players, and administrators.
Vitally, Collins will oversee FV’s Women and Girls Strategy, a key priority objective for football. With the FIFA Women’s World Cup Australia and New ZealandTM on the horizon, 2023 is an enormous year for female football.
We are truly excited to have Sue on board bringing her professionalism and expertise to help secure our vision for a fairer, more equitable, inclusive, and diverse football community. Sue is a passionate advocate for equity and a well-respected administrator with demonstrated capability and it will be an absolute pleasure to work more intently alongside Sue to reach our commitment of 50:50 by 2027.
The entire FV team is thrilled to welcome Collins to the organisation.
