FV partners with The Reagan Milstein Foundation at Community Shield

Football Victoria (FV) is partnering with the Reagan Milstein Foundation (RMF) to deliver pre-loved and unused sports gear to less fortunate communities around the world.

RMF will be in attendance at the 2023 Community Shield on Friday, February 10 to collect donated sports gear from the Victorian football community.

Since its inception in 2010, RMF has been able to supply communities with over A$800,000 of gear in replacement value.

Reagan Milstein was a healthy young man who loved football and he wanted more than anything to make the world a better place. He had dreams of combining his love for the sport and his passion for helping others.

He wanted to coach a junior football team and build a career as a sports journalist, however, Reagan never got the chance to realise his dreams. At only 14, he was injured in a scuba diving accident and despite weeks of intensive care he never regained consciousness and passed away on July 22, 2010.

RMF president Kevin Milstein (Reagan’s father) said losing his son left “an enormous hole in our lives” and to ensure his legacy lived on, his family and friends decided to create the RMF to make a difference in the lives of others on his behalf.

“I knew he loved football and helping people so I thought of a way Reagan’s name could live on,” Kevin Milstein explained.

“Whilst the foundation was created to help those in need, we also hope that the foundation will keep the memory of Reagan alive in the community and allow us to fulfill the expectations he placed on himself to make a difference in the lives of others.

“There is no greater honour that we can bestow on the memory of our beautiful Reagan than to help others in his name.

“We have helped 30-odd countries, some more than others, but Regan’s name lives on all over the world.”

RMF will have a wheelie bin in attendance at the Community Shield with all donated sports equipment set to be donated to Zambia at a later date!
