Geelong set to host 2026 Football Victoria Country Championships

Football Victoria (FV) is thrilled to announce that the 2026 Football Victoria Country Championships will take place in Geelong from June 6-8, 2026.

The prestigious three-day tournament, bringing together the top regional football talent from across the state, will be played across two venues, Stead Park and Myers Reserve, the home venues of Geelong SC and Geelong Rangers respectively.

With a proud history spanning more than four decades, the 2026 Championships will mark the second edition managed by Football Victoria and the first since the newly restructured regional football model announced in December 2025.

Last year’s Country Championships attracted 4000 visitors to Albury-Wodonga, as 69 teams and over 1,200 players from across regional Victoria flocked to the border town.

This year, 8 regions will converge on Geelong, with players, coaches, match officials and families set to make this year's edition one of the most anticipated in the event’s proud history.

The Championships play a vital role in FV’s talent identification pathway, offering players the opportunity to demonstrate their skills to FV’s Talent Identification team.

FV Regional Development Manager Lauren Stevens said she was proud to oversee the event for a second time and excited to build on the success of FV’s inaugural management of the Championships in 2025.

“The Football Victoria Country Championships is the biggest annual celebration of regional playing talent, and we are thrilled to bring the event to Geelong in 2026,” Stevens said.

“With two fantastic venues and strong local support from City of Greater Geelong, Football Victoria Geelong, Geelong SC and Geelong Rangers, this promises to be an enormous event.

“We look forward to welcoming regions from across the state to Geelong and bringing our regional football community together for an exciting weekend of football.”

Football Victoria CEO Dan Birrell shared Stevens’ excitement.

“The Football Victoria Country Championships are one of the longest running annual events in the sport here in Victoria, with almost 50 years of history.

“This is always a fantastic opportunity to showcase the talent in regional Victorian football and a key event in the talent identification calendar.

“I cannot wait to celebrate another fantastic Championships with our regional community.”
