Football Victoria's GO Soccer Mums program was recognised at the 2023 Victorian Sport Awards on Wednesday, June 7.
The GO Soccer Mums Cup Day was named the 'Community Sporting Event of the Year at the event.
FV Women & Girls Project Manager Natalie Pafralis was ecstatic the program was honoured at such a prestigious event.
"Elsa Mangan and I aimed to create an inclusive event that had a positive effect on the community and with 71% of participants increasing their confidence in getting involved with a team and 85% reporting a greater enjoyment of playing football, I am confident that we achieved this goal," she said.
"I am looking forward to what comes next for our GO Soccer Mums and other Women and Girls programs at Football Victoria as we lead into the FIFA Women's World Cup Australia and New Zealand 2023TM. "
Each year, the Victorian Sport Awards honours the athletes, coaches, administrators and volunteers who have made an exceptional contribution to sport in Victoria as well as the initiatives that promoted sport and active recreation participation.
The Hon. Ros Spence, Minister for Community Sport said it was fantastic to see Victorian home-grown heroes receive the recognition they deserve.
“From football legend and tireless FightMND campaigner Neale Daniher to community teams, volunteers and coaches leading the way at the grassroots level," he said.
