Round two of the U-NITE Cup is in the books, with teams already separating themselves from the rest of the pack!
The U-NITE Cup has been an annual tournament since 2014 and is a celebration of cultural diversity, bringing together teams representing nations from across the globe.
There are 24 Men’s and 10 Women’s teams competing in this year’s event with the Grand Final set to be held on Sunday, January 15.
Iraq emerged as the early Men’s Group A leaders, after defeating Vietnam 3-1. Afghan United’s 3-0 defeat of Congo also propelled them to the equal top of the ladder. In the final group match, the Liberian Panthers succumbed to Egypt 4-1.
Group B is shaping to be a tighter group as four teams all share one win.
Somalia defeated Syria Eagles 5-2, Malaysia was a class above Himalayan Tigers Nepal as they went on to win 4-1 and China and Australia B drew 0-0.
Turkey continued their unbeaten run in Group C with a 4-1 victory over Mauritius, with Brail joining them on top of the table after overcoming Colombia 2-1. TL Galaxy also sneaked into fourth place with a 2-1 win over Timor Leste.
Sunshine South Sudan demolished SE South Sudan 1-7 to reign supreme over Group D. Korea is also undefeated, following their 3-2 victory over Zimbabwe. Afghan Premiers defeated Fiji to round out the group.
Chile lead Women’s Group A after two weeks, proceeding with a commanding 3-0 victory over the Zebras. Melbourne United A defeated Mauritius 4-1 in the other fixture.
UNITE look like the likely Group B winners as they are the last undefeated side left and in round two they destroyed Melb United B 10-0. Turkiye Girls, who are second in the group also made light work of Viva Italia 8-0.
Week three of the U-Nite Cup group games will be played across three sports venues on Sunday. November 13.

The tournament winners will experience a unique Melbourne Victory matchday experience at the club’s January 26 doubleheader for the Club’s U-NITE match with Sydney FC.
