Multicultural Round 2021

During Cultural Diversity and Harmony Week (March 15 – 28), Football Victoria (FV) is pleased to celebrate football's strength through diversity with our annual Multicultural Round

It’s a chance for us all to celebrate football’s important role in social cohesion and share some of the stories that highlight multiculturalism in their football family. FV is encouraging all Clubs to celebrate diversity within their own communities; at match days, training sessions and gala days, as well as digital channels.

No matter your gender or background, football is truly a game for all and we as a sport have become enriched by our diversity.

Football Victoria CEO Kimon Taliadoros said the round was a celebration of football’s strength.

“Multicultural Round is a fantastic acknowledgement of the values we live and breathe in football every day, all year round” Taliadoros said.

“Our many peoples and cultures are the strength of our beautiful game, that appeals to and welcomes all."

This year’s Cultural Diversity Week theme pushes the boundaries and asks: What does multicultural Victoria look like in 2030?

Some of FV's planned activities during the week include:

  • FV's Multicultural Round from 19-21 March, 2021.
  • Walking Football - Casey Hub, Wednesday 17 March 10am (Akoonah Park) - Harmony Week giveaways. ALL welcome.
  • The Multicultural Settlement Program (MSP) - Operation Stitches MSP – Wednesday 17th March 4:15pm (Collingwood Towers) .
  • MiniRoos Kick-Off program - Ashburton United Soccer Club – Saturday 21st March 9am (Camberwell High School) - Harmony Week giveaways.
  • The Sports Hour show will be dedicated to Harmony Week. FV's Executive Manager, Growth and Inclusion, Karen Pearce will join other guests on the show on  Monday 22 March on Brimbank Live from 5-6pm.
  • Victoria Police and Football Victoria Celebration at Fawkner Police Station on Monday 22 March, with special guest Hakeem al-Araibi.

“While we celebrate our multicultural strength as a game across the entire year, it’s wonderful to take a moment to reflect on our game's strengths and the rich contribution this diversity provides," said FV Executive Manager, Growth and Inclusion, Karen Pearce.

“To have the opportunity through a Multicultural Round to celebrate what we are as a game, is very special for all of us.”
