Outdoor football training can return across Metropolitan Melbourne and limited spectators can gather in Regional Victoria, following our state’s achievement of the 70% double vaccination milestone in the Victorian Government’s Roadmap.
Please note: We anticipate that indoor football/Futsal will be allowed to return to Regional Victoria very soon, pending further clarity from the Victorian Government related to density limits. We hope to receive this information and release Futsal/indoor football RTT Conditions as soon as possible. In the meantime, only outdoor football training can return across the state.
To assist our football community, Football Victoria (FV) has released new Return To Training Conditions (RTT). In order to improve clarity and relevance of the updates, FV’s RTT Conditions have now been split into a set of documents, each targeting a different football stakeholder group.
The key points to note in the new conditions include:
- Vaccination is NOT required for training at this stage of the Roadmap
- Only outdoor training is permitted. No competition can take place.
- No travel between Metropolitan and Regional Victoria can occur for the purposes of participating in football in any capacity (including playing, officiating or as a permitted spectator).

Full detail related to these key points is available in the RTT documents.
Clubs are requested to review the RTT in detail and to liaise with their Council (or other land owner) in relation to venue and facility access. Clubs who have teams that are administered by a Regional Association, should liaise directly with their member Association.
Compliance with FV’s Return to Training Conditions is mandatory.

FV, along with a number of Clubs, have been actively developing football opportunities for players across spring and summer. We look forward to sharing more information on these in the coming weeks.
FV will continue to provide our community with updates to these RTT Conditions, as we reach each Roadmap milestone.
