NPLW Championship winning coach returns for season 2024

South Melbourne FC has confirmed George Georgiadis will continue as Head Coach of the Club's NPLW side for season 2024.

Since taking over in late 2022, Georgiadis has steered South Melbourne to a Nike FC Cup Final in 2022, a Nike FC Semi-Final, and an NPLW Championship in 2023.

Speaking to SMFC Media, Women's Football Director Theo Chronis was elated to welcome back George.

"We have had an exceptional year as a club and are very pleased to see us back at the pinnacle of women's football in the state," he said.

"As well as senior success, George is a believer of our whole football program at South and we have been able to integrate numerous youth team players into the senior system as well throughout the year.

"It's been a great rise in 2023 and we look to further continue that next year with George at the helm."

Georgiadis has a wealth of football knowledge and experience having played with Heidelberg United from 1993-1998 and 2001-2002.

He started as a junior at the club and rose through the ranks to play as a midfielder for the seniors. His playing career culminated in scoring in the 2001 Victorian Premier League Grand Final against Port Melbourne at Bob Jane Stadium.

Transitioning into coaching, Georgiadis has spent time developing youth girls across Melbourne for a number of years before joining South Melbourne FC.
