Officer City FC and Table Tennis Club Join Forces to Strengthen Community Ties

Officer City Football Club has strengthened its community focus by partnering with Officer City Table Tennis Club, offering players a valuable way to stay active and connected during the off-season.

This initiative continues to demonstrate the club's commitment to keeping players engaged year-round while building stronger ties within the local community, something Football Victoria is proud to support.

Officer City Football Club President, Cheree Appledore, shared how the partnership came to life.

"We wanted to offer our players something meaningful during the off-season, and the table tennis club presented the perfect opportunity," she said.

"It’s about more than staying fit—it’s about keeping our players involved with the club while strengthening our community links."

The initiative allows football players to participate in table tennis activities, giving them an alternative way to stay physically active while having fun with their teammates.

“This partnership has helped keep the team together in the off-season. Players remain connected to the club, which is great for team spirit, and by collaborating with another local sports club, we’re contributing to a stronger, more united community,” Cheree added.

The benefits of the initiative go beyond fitness. By staying engaged with the club throughout the year, players maintain their sense of belonging and camaraderie, which contributes to stronger team dynamics when the football season resumes.

The collaboration also opens doors for mutual growth, with both clubs benefiting from increased visibility and community support.

Cheree encourages other clubs to explore similar partnerships.

“I’d definitely recommend it to other clubs. It’s a great way to keep players engaged, and it also brings the community closer together. The off-season doesn’t have to be a time to wind down—there are so many ways to stay active and involved with the club.”
