Football Victoria (FV) is proud to announce its participation in the 2026 Emerging Socceroos Championships, with two metropolitan teams and one regional team.
The decision to include a Victorian Regional team reflects our ongoing commitment to nurturing talent across Victoria, ensuring regional players have the same opportunities to shine on the national stage.
FV Head of Youth Development Steve Mautone is incredibly excited by the talent he has seen across regional Victoria and cannot wait to see the team perform at the 2026 Championships.
"We are always supportive of talent in regional areas of Victoria. After the success of our regional team in the October ID Cup, allocating a spot for a regional team in the 2026 Emerging Socceroo Championships was an easy decision," he said.
"While we will only be committing to a Victorian Regional boys team for the 2026 Championships, the FV Development team looks forward to exploring a girls team in future Championships."
This format will run for 2026, with a review planned following the 2026 Emerging Socceroos and Emerging Matildas Championships.
Trial dates for the Championships will be announced soon with squads to be confirmed by the end of January, 2026.
