Heidelberg United marched into the 2025 Dockerty Cup Final with authority, showcasing their depth, discipline, and dominance across every stage of the competition.

Round 4

St Albans Saints 0–2 Heidelberg United
Heidelberg United began their 2025 Dockerty Cup campaign on a chilly Saturday afternoon at Churchill Reserve, facing fellow NPLM side St Albans Saints.

The Bergers made an electric start, with Sabit Ngor finding the net in just the 5th minute. Despite the early lead, the match remained tense, with St Albans pushing for an equaliser and Josh Gulevski receiving a yellow card in the 73rd minute as tensions rose.

With the game hanging in the balance, it was Fletcher Fulton, the former Moreland City forward, who sealed the result in the 90th minute to secure Heidelberg’s passage to Round 5.

Round 5

Heidelberg United 3–0 Hampton East Brighton
In Round 5, Heidelberg hosted State League 1 South-East side Hampton East Brighton. Despite the gulf between the teams on paper, the visitors put in a spirited showing.

Jay McGowan opened the scoring in the 5th minute, giving the Bergers another early lead. Fielding a less experienced lineup, Heidelberg found the match more competitive than expected.

Chok Dau extended the lead in the 76th minute before Bul Juach rounded out the scoring in the 82nd. The 3–0 win didn’t come easy, but Heidelberg progressed with confidence.

Round 6

Heidelberg United 4–1 FC Clifton Hill
Another home fixture saw Heidelberg take on State League North-West outfit FC Clifton Hill. Though it looked straightforward on paper, Clifton Hill’s strong Cup pedigree was not to be underestimated.

Max Bisetto struck early in the 4th minute, but the visitors responded through Dean Lorenzi in the 15th. Right on half-time, Chok Dau restored Heidelberg’s lead, settling nerves before the break.

In the second half, Sabit Ngor (66’) and Fletcher Fulton (90’) added to the tally to seal a 4–1 win and continue the Bergers’ impressive run.

Round 7

Northcote City 0–2 Heidelberg United
A tough away trip to John Cain Memorial Park awaited Heidelberg in Round 7, facing VPL1 contenders Northcote City, a side that had previously made the Dockerty Cup Final Five in 2023.

In a cagey and physical first half, the deadlock was broken just before the break, with Anthony Theodoropoulos scoring in the 45th minute.

Sabit Ngor continued his scoring streak, netting his third goal of the cup in the second half to secure a hard-fought 2–0 victory in what was arguably their toughest test to date.

Heidelberg were drawn at home once again for the semi-final, this time welcoming VPL2 side Nunawading City—surprise packages of the tournament who had already secured an Australia Cup Round of 32 berth.

The Bergers showed their class from the outset, with Asahi Yokokawa opening the scoring inside 20 minutes.

After a quiet remainder of the first half, Heidelberg turned on the style after the break. Chok Dau scored a second-half brace, taking his Cup tally to five, while Bul Juach and Max Bisetto also got on the scoresheet in a dominant 5–0 performance.

With their eyes now on silverware, Heidelberg march confidently into the 2025 Dockerty Cup Final.
