Sign Up. Step Up. Be Rewarded. | Love The Game

We all know that kids today are growing up surrounded by gambling. Whether it’s betting ads on every screen or watching friends and family members glued to their betting apps, it can be hard to protect kids from constant exposure to gambling at a time in their lives when they don’t fully understand the risks.

Why it matters

Studies show that kids who are introduced to betting at an early age are more likely to experience problems with gambling as adults. And while we can’t control everything kids are exposed to in life, community football clubs can play a big role in protecting kids from developing gambling problems as adults. Your club’s environment, policies,  and the behaviours modelled by coaches and parents are all key factors in showing kids that sport is better without betting.

Why join Love the Game?

As a member of Love the Game, your club is taking a practical and proactive step toward limiting the exposure of young players to gambling. The innovative Victorian program supports community clubs to become a community leader with tools, resources and guidance. Together, we can model positive behaviours and attitudes to help protect young players from gambling harm now and into adulthood.

Love the Game supports clubs to:

  • Develop a Gambling Harm Prevention Policy
  • Say ‘no’ to sports betting sponsorships
  • Create a club environment free from gambling
  • Empower coaches, players and families to talk to kids about the risks of gambling
  • Help kids love the game, not the odds.
