2024 Female Football Week (FFW) is taking place between May 3-12 with the country uniting to celebrate and acknowledge the contribution of women and girls in Female Football Week.
Launched in 2014, Female Football Week has become a highlight in the annual football calendar. The theme #WeRise is a celebration of Australian women's football, as we rise together to elevate women and girls in football, highlighting the sense of community in women's football, both on and off the field.
Clubs across the state are getting involved with events planned across the week, and below is a list of some of the events taking place.
EVENTS
BUFC & BUJFC
BUFC organised a walk on with senior teams and an all-female teams training session on May 4.
Chelsea FC
Chelsea FC organised a Female Football Day on May 5, where all female teams played on the same day. The day had junior girls, senior women and masters women's team all playing at our home ground in Edithvale.
Essendon Royals SC
Essendon Royals SC organised a Female Football Week match on May 11 from 2pm at Cross Keys.
Fortuna 60 SC
All junior female players undertook an activation and training session with thier senior women's teams on May 9.
Green Gully SC
Green Gully SC hosted many events during FFW, which included:
- Dinner on the 2/5/24 at the club.
- U13 girls walk out with senior men's team and half-time games on the main pitch on May 4.
Moreland City FC
Moreland City FC organised a Curriculum Based Training Sessions with the possibility of joining the Club's U12’s Girls Team on Tuesday 7 & Thursday 9 May.
Surfside Waves
Surfside Waves organised a celebration of female football with a free come and try session filled with fun activities to introduce the game of football to girls and women of any age on May 3.
Altona City SC
Altona City SC is hosting a GO Soccer Mums session on May 8 from 7:00pm-8:00pm.
Casey Comets FC
Casey Comets FC is running a U14 Girls v Mums match on May 11 from 5:30pm-7:00pm.
Middle Park FC
Middle Park FC has organised NPLW player NPLW player Gabby Hollar to take the Club's U8-10 players through some drills and do a Q&A with all players, before leading the older players U12-15 training on May 8 from 6:00pm-8:00pm.
Ringwood City FC
Ringwood City is hosting a training session involving all-female teams from U8-U18 in a mixed-aged mini–World Cup, there will also be a female celebration training on May 8 to coincide with their home game on May 24.
Watsonia Heights FC
Watsonia Heights FC is hosting a celebration and recognition of women's football event on May 8 between 7:00pm and 10:30pm.
Dandenong City FC
Dandenong City has organised a mentoring session and a movie premiere featuring the epic, history-making Dandy Cup, a 52-team, 29-club, 650-player girls-only tournament on May 9 from 6:30pm-8:30pm.
Falcons 2000 SC
Falcons 2000 are running a GO Soccer Mums session between 5:30pm and 6:00pm on May 9.
Moonee Valley Knights FC
Mooney Valley Knights will celebrate their first-ever junior girls' team in Club history on May 9 from 7:00-8:00pm.
Traralgon Olympians SC
Traralgon Olympic SC is hosting a GO Soccer Mums Come & Try session on May 9 from 5:30pm-6:15pm.
Wodonga Heart FC
Wodonga Heart is hosting a Junior Girls World Cup Gala Day on May 11 from 5:30pm-7:30pm.
Bell Park SC
Bell Park SC will play six women and girls matches at home on May 11 On May 11, while junior girls are set to walk out with the senior team.
Bendigo Amateur Soccer League
The BASL is hosting a Female Football Week-round event where all (73) BASL female teams will be playing on May 11. The event will also recognise the wonderful female volunteers. A total of 34 female-only fixtures will be played on the day with Player of the Match awarded in all senior and competitive junior games.
Gippsland Soccer League
The Gippsland Soccer League will be holding a fun afternoon in Korumburra on May 11 with a U13 Girls match from 3 pm, a skills clinic for ages 6 - 18 from 4:30-5pm, meet & greet with Alex Chidiac, Matilda & Melbourne Victory player, from 5pm-6pm followed by a Q&A session with Alex. The event is capped off with a senior women's match, Phillip Island Breakers V Mirboo North United from 7pm.
Mount Martha SC
Mount Martha SC is hosting a Women in Sport - Mother's Day Luncheon with guest speakers, silent auctions, raffle and prizes celebrating Women and Girls and sport, coming together as a community on May 11 from 12:00pm-3:00pm.
North Geelong Warriors FC
North Geelong's Ladies Day will be anchored by a luncheon in the clubrooms, with guest speaker Liz Aitken on May 11.
Liz played soccer for WA and Victoria in the 1970s and is excited to share her perspective on how far women's soccer has come since she played.
Guests will also receive a free gift, and access to the VPL1 match between NGWFC and Melbourne City.
Melton Phoenix FC
Melton Phoenix FC will be holding a GO Soccer Mums Come & Try Day session (9:00am-11:00am) and GO Girls Come & Try Day on (10am-11am) on May 12.
Southern United FC
Southern United FC will see the Mums or the players very important person will walk out with the players at the start of the game on May 12.
