Football Victoria (FV) is thrilled to announce that the Victorian Athletes with Disability Futsal Team has been named a finalist for the Inspire Group Team of the Year award at the 2024 Disability Sport and Recreation Awards.
In January, FVs Athletes With Disability (AWD) Futsal team competed at the National Futsal Championships (NFC) on the Gold Coast, marking only their second year participating in the event.
Despite their short time playing together, the team delivered exceptional results, finishing as runners-up after a narrow 4-3 loss to Football Queensland in the grand final. Additionally, FV's Tycen Heeger earned a spot in the AWD Mixed Team of the Tournament, further highlighting their impressive performance. The team is already eagerly anticipating next year's competition!
The Disability Sport and Recreation Awards, to be held on Thursday, October 3, 2024, at Ernst & Young (EY), 8 Exhibition Street, Melbourne, recognize the finest athletes, teams, and volunteers who are making significant strides in disability sport. With spectacular views of Melbourne, the awards night will honour champions, rising stars, and those who tirelessly support them.
