Victoria's Ange Postecoglou returns to EPL with Nottingham Forrest

Football Victoria proudly congratulates Ange Postecoglou on his appointment as the new Head Coach of Nottingham Forest, announced on Tuesday, September 9.

Postecoglou’s story is deeply woven into the fabric of Victorian football. Growing up in Melbourne, he began his journey at South Melbourne FC, where he was mentored by the legendary Ferenc Puskás.

As both a player and later Head Coach, Ange led the club to National Soccer League success, becoming a defining figure in Victoria’s football history.

His pathway reflects the strength of Victorian football. From grassroots beginnings at his boyhood club, to captaining and coaching them to the ultimate prize, Postecoglou embodied the state’s tradition of producing leaders who thrive on the national and international stage.

After conquering Australia with Brisbane Roar and leading the Socceroos to the 2015 AFC Asian Cup™ title and an arduous 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign, Ange carried his Victorian values abroad. Success followed him to Japan, Scotland, and most recently Tottenham Hotspur, where he became the first Australian manager to win a major European trophy.

Now, Postecoglou takes charge of Nottingham Forest in a triumphant return to the English Premier League, with his first match in charge set to be on Saturday, September 13 against Arsenal (kick-off 9:30PM AEST).

Football Victoria congratulates Ange Postecoglou on his appointment and on behalf of the Victorian football community, wish him all the best on his quest for more silverware.
