SANCTIONING POLICY

Football Victoria (FV) is pleased to release its new Sanctioning Policy, providing important clarity, guidance and support for all Local Government Areas (LGA)s/Councils as well as FV Affiliated Clubs hosting events, tournaments and activities outside of regular season matches.

The Policy is designed to help Clubs better understand the sanctioning process and ensure these activities are delivered in line with FV requirements and standards, as well as their obligations as a leaseholder with local councils. This includes activities such as gala days, festivals, tournaments, domestic tours and overseas tours, as well as other football-related events conducted by Clubs.

Obtaining FV sanctioning approval is an important requirement for Clubs, ensuring that activities are formally recognised and supported by FV. Sanctioned activities provide Clubs with access to a range of important benefits and support measures, including:

  • Insurance coverage for clubs and participants involved in the activity
  • Access to FV Referees (subject to availability)
  • Support with disciplinary and tribunal matters
  • Member protection guidance and assistance

FV reminds Clubs that unsanctioned events are not covered under FV’s insurance policy (including Public Liability) and will be communicated to councils as a potential breach of their lease agreement. Ensuring that an activity is appropriately sanctioned helps protect Clubs and participants, while also providing greater confidence that the activity is being delivered within the recognised football framework.

We strongly encourage all Clubs to read the Sanctioning Policy in full and ensure that sanctioning approval is obtained where required.
