40:40:20 Principle

Requirement for 2024 AGM (held in 2025): 

Must have achieved or demonstrate progress towards achieving compliance with the 40:40:20 Principle on their Board or Committee of Management


What does this mean?

As we continue to drive towards equity in our game, we are committed to ensuring that women and girls and gender diverse people are afforded the opportunity to hold positions with decision making power.

To meet the requirement in 2025 (ahead of the 2024 AGM), Clubs will be required to declare how they are progressing towards meeting this requirement in 2026. For example, Clubs may consider extending opportunities in coming months for women and girls to sit in at committee meetings, to ensure they can serve their communities through positions on committees in 2026.

In 2026, a minimum composition of 40% male, 40% female must apply on your Club's committee, with the remaining 20% to be comprised of any gender.


What do I need to supply to FV?

  • A declaration and summary of initiatives being undertaken to get more women and girls involved.
  • A list of Board/Committee of Management Members, including Roles, Contact Details and Gender.
  • Authorised Delegate Nomination.

FAQs

How long do I have to achieve this?

Clubs will need to complete the Annual Club Membership form by the 31st December each year to be eligible to participate in Football Victoria competitions the following calendar year.
