League Honours: Women's National Premier Leagues
1974-1998 | 1999-2015 | 2016-2024 | Summary
It took almost fifteen years for the first organised league competition to kick-off after Girls football was banned by the Victorian Soccer Federation in 1960. To illustrate how popular the sport had become, two divisions were contested before Melton would claim the inaugural championship with a win over Greensborough in the Grand Final. Women's football was governed by the Victorian Women's Soccer Association (VWSA) for a quarter of a century, with Greensborough (10 championships), Dandenong and Berwick City all enjoying periods of dominance. League tables between 1974 and 1984 have been supplied by Hall of Fame inductee Betty Hoar but there are still some missing details for the seasons between 1985 and 1998. Any assistance in confirming winners and runners-up during this period can be forwarded to history@footballvictoria.com.au.
