Men's State League Award Winners
The Men’s State League as we know it now began life as the Victorian Metropolitan League in 1958, which ostensibly represented the Leagues that underpinned the newly formed top-tier Victorian State League introduced in the same year. Just when Best-and-Fairest and Top Goalscorer awards were first awarded to players is not entirely known, though it is likely that the list here is neither exhaustive or entirely accurate. While much work has been done by historian Mark Boric to uncover this history, the VSF yearbooks from the day were not always diligent when it came to publishing the correct spelling of surnames in identifying the given names of award recipients.
